One can be placed on the competitive map by a brilliant strategy. However, one is kept there with the help of solid execution only. Struggle is experienced by majority of the companies with implementation. The reason being they have a tendency to over depend on structural alterations like reorganization in order for their strategy to be executed. Short-term gains are only produced by the structural change even though place is there for structural change in the execution. For instance, layers of management were decreased by one company as a portion of the strategy so that disappointing performance can be addressed. Costs initially plummeted but there is creeping back of the layers soon.
